Rectilinear – Support
Rectilinear is a photo editing extension for Photos on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Draw lines along edges that should be straight and it corrects the perspective, after removing your lens's own distortion automatically.
Getting started
- Open it: in Photos, open a photo, tap or click Edit, then the ••• button (Extensions), and choose Rectilinear. On the Mac, if it doesn't appear, quit and reopen Photos once after installing the app.
- Draw guides: drag on the photo to draw 2 to 4 lines along edges that should be vertical (cyan) or horizontal (yellow). Drag the ends to adjust them.
- Apply: press Apply to see the result. With Auto-crop off you can move and resize the crop rectangle, then press Crop. Hold Preview to compare with the original.
- Save: confirm with Done. The edit stays editable: open Rectilinear again on the same photo to change the guides, or revert the photo in Photos.
Common questions
I can't find Rectilinear in Photos. On iPhone and iPad, tap ••• while editing; if Rectilinear isn't listed, tap More and turn it on. On the Mac, open the app once after installing it, then quit and reopen Photos.
What does one line do, and what do two? One line only levels the photo. Two vertical lines fix converging verticals, such as a building photographed from below. A vertical and a horizontal line correct both directions at once.
Why is lens correction switched off for my phone photos? Phones already remove distortion when they take the picture, so applying the profile again would correct it twice. The profile is still offered, so you can switch it on for an unprocessed original.
My lens wasn't recognised. Profiles come from the Lensfun database, which covers over 1,500 lenses. If yours isn't there, the perspective correction still works; only the automatic lens correction is unavailable.
Does it work with Live Photos? Yes: the same correction is applied to the photo and to its video.

Rectilinear – Supporto
